Salvadori, the author of numerous architectural titles (The Art of
Construction [1990]), turns his attention to mathematics in this
offering. The topics include basic arithmetic operations, plane and
solid geometry, graphing, simultaneous linear equations, and
probability. Each chapter begins with an introduction explaining the
concept, followed by a list of problems for readers to solve. Although
these activities are mathematically sound, the term game is a misnomer
(as is the heading for the exercises--"Math Camp"), making this much
more likely to appeal to middle-school teachers than to their students.
Recommended for larger collections or libraries with great demand for
this subject; answers appended. Kay Weisman
